Thank you for visiting our River Shack Yamba website. Your hosts are the Vance family, regular visitors to Yamba for many years and settled in the early 70s.

The Micalo Island 1/4 kilometre riverfront property spills into the pristine oyster channel that boasts both abundant fresh wild, caught sustainable seafood and crustaceans right on “The River Shack’s doorstep.

As an east facing property, experience the river reflection of the sun and moon rises.

Relax on the private jetty overhanging the riverbank!

The self-contained shack accommodates, two queen and 1 x double beds, and two bathrooms that accompany a large, covered outdoor camp kitchen and dining area.

Try our camp oven, enjoy cooking on the timber coals fire pit.

Guests can invite their extra family or friends for a camping, or glamping stay with their exclusive use of the 40.5 ha abundant bird and wildlife Sanctuary.

Accessing the whole lower Clarence River, by boat from “ The River Shack’s” private dual boat ramp to explore Lake Wooloweyah a vast expanse of fishing grounds that border, the fringe of Yuraygir National Park and Wooloweyah village drifting down to Brooms Head. Explore more, as there are numerous islands and estuary systems flowing from the mighty Clarence river close to the River Shack. Palmers, Romiaka, Shallow, Micalo and Oyster channels.

All these systems give close access to Yamba and Iluka straight out of the break wall to the Pacific Ocean to offshore fishing grounds.

Yamba has world-renowned unspoiled white sandy beaches surfing breaks off Angourie surfing reserve. Nestled beside this are the fresh spring waters of the blue and green pools which have direct access to North Yuraygir National park walking trails.

The island escape property has evolved since first purchased in 2002, now, with approvals for weddings, functions and events accommodating live bands, and DJs. Yoga retreats in the air-conditioned acoustic Riverfront pavilion or jazz on the green, wine and food tasting on the idyllic river front grounds.

 

Our guests have continually revisited over many seasons some having their children returning to get married at the river shack.

Enjoy getaways experiencing star gazing, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing and nature walking trails.

There is much more to explore and enjoy including local knowledge we share with you about this unique island retreat and untouched surroundings. You will be located in a unique estuary and salt marsh river system a wetland stretching into both the Yuraygir and Bundjalung National Parks.

10 minutes by car to Yamba or 20 minutes by boat to Yamba’s CBD, Post Office, Cafes Restaurants, The famous Pacific Hotel, Yamba Shores Tavern, Golf and Bowls Clubs.
